  • Minal lightly tapped the table, seeing that she had called her three times without response. IKLAS hadn’t replied because she had drifted deep into thought, which was unusual for her.

Startled, she looked at her and asked, “Are you okay? Why are you calling me like this? Have you been waiting for me?”

Minal said, “Come on, get up, let’s go home. The Islamiyya class is over anyway.”

IKLAS got up and picked up her bag. “Fine, let’s go,” she said, “but you know, I’m always thinking about my love. Why must you come and bother me?”

Minal replied, “Honestly, IKLAS, you’re overthinking. Aren’t you going to take care of yourself? Stop tormenting yourself. He doesn’t even know you exist. You don’t know him personally; you only hear his voice. Yet you deny yourself peace because of someone who doesn’t know your life. Seriously, you should look into whether he even has a wife.”

IKLAS looked at her and said, “Honestly, even if he has three wives, I would be the fourth. I swear, I could marry him. He captured my heart from the first day I heard his voice on Alheri FM. I’ve fallen for him and I enjoy where he is. He doesn’t give love advice to his fans, and I feel I can’t remove my love for RMD from my heart; he’s become part of my blood.” She ended her words in tears.

Minal said, “By God’s power, may God protect you.”

As they walked, they talked, and the topic often returned to RMD.

Rabi said, “Why don’t you follow my advice and let go of this foolish love? Start caring for Mahmud. I see he likes you too.”

IKLAS replied, “God forbid that I marry a reckless boy who chases women. Honestly, Minal, if you want us to continue our friendship, please stop bringing up Mahmud.”

Minal said, “May God give you patience.”

At that moment, they arrived at Minal’s gate.

Minal said, “See you tomorrow, then?”

IKLAS didn’t even look at her; she walked on, leaving Minal standing there with her mouth open.

Minal said, “IKLAS is clearly angry right now.”

IKLAS entered her house. Wow! The sight and tidiness of the house caught her attention immediately. She went straight to her mother’s room to greet her.

With care, her mother said, “Oh, you’re back already?”

“I’m back, Mamy. How’s the home? Has Daddy returned?”

Her mother said, “No, he hasn’t returned yet.”

“Alright, I’ll go inside, take a shower, and pray Maghrib before he comes back.”

She went to her bedroom, decorated fully in orange. After bathing and performing ablution, she put on her gown and hijab, then prepared to pray Maghrib.

After she finished, her sister Maryam knocked and said, “Come, let’s wait for Daddy so we can have dinner.”

IKLAS happily got up and went straight to the dining area and sat down.

She said, “Daddy, I was angry with you because you didn’t come back early,” speaking playfully.

Daddy said, “I’m sorry, my dear. I was held up in a meeting with Alhaji Mohammed, that’s why I was late.”

She pouted and said, “Honestly, I was really upset with you.”

Her mother said, “Alhaji, stop teasing the girl. Remember, she’s still a child and will get married one day.”

Ignoring her mother, he said, “I brought you a gift, my dear, and I know once you see it, you’ll forgive me.”

    She laughed and asked, “What
